KICK OFF MEETING OF THE GECKO PROJECT

On Thursday 18th and Friday 19th of January 2018, IAE Montpellier was pleased to host the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus Capacity Building GECKO project.

The GECKO project (2017-2020) aims at improving engineering training programs in three countries: Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines, by sharing good practices and strengthening regional cooperation. The overall objective of the project is to improve the employability of engineering students through the development of innovative courses, in order to address the labour market’s growing needs in terms of multi-competencies.

The strong economic growth of the ASEAN area and the resulting market developments cause changes in the labour market needs. To address these new requirements, the engineering training programs need to adapt, especially through the development of multi-competency (management, interculturality, foreign languages, etc.).

During the first morning, the GECKO project and its 13 partner universities were introduced by Prof. Emmanuel Houzé of IAE Montpellier and Prof. Pichan Sawangwong of Burapha University (project co-coordinator). The last three half-days were devoted to group work.

Project coordinators: Emmanuel Houzé (IAE Montpellier) and Camylle Pernelle (International Affairs Department, University of Montpellier)
