Since its creation in 1956, our IAE has maintained its uniqueness by developing, within the University of Montpellier, an original and high-quality educational offering. It ensures the professional integration of our students by providing them with real employability to occupy managerial positions of today and tomorrow. To meet new challenges, respond to the expectations of all our stakeholders, and ensure internal cohesion, we have chosen to focus our efforts around three pillars that define the identity of IAE Montpellier:
The uniqueness of our educational offerings, our academic and professional partnerships, are our main assets. Thus, the transfer of academic knowledge to students by linking research quality with pedagogy is ensured. Likewise, relationships with the professional world are focused on enriching our programs. With strong territorial and regional roots, we aim to maintain and expand our reach both nationally and internationally. In this context, our goal is to train professionals with real technical expertise in information technology management, innovation, and more broadly, in business and public administration management, while allowing them to acquire essential skills for responsible and sustainable management. To support this goal while aiming for excellence, IAE Montpellier is supported by a dynamic teaching and administrative team, capable of adapting and innovating in respect of its environment. Our teaching staff consists of leading researchers and recognized professionals. The administrative and teaching teams are at your disposal to meet your various needs. We wish you all the best in your academic and professional endeavors within our institute. |
Presentation
Within the University of Montpellier, IAE Montpellier offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Management Sciences through initial, continuing, and work-study programs. As a central player in dual competence, IAE Montpellier provides a diverse range of programs covering all areas of management and business administration. The programs are delivered by a faculty composed of high-level academics and experienced executives who are experts in their fields.
A Strong Network – IAE FRANCE
Founded in 1956, IAE is part of a network of 38 IAE institutions across France and is one of the top ten management schools within the French university system. The National Association of IAE, now known as IAE FRANCE, enables the development of common policies, coordinated public actions, and the establishment of shared services.
Our mission
Through programs led by qualified academic staff and professionals, IAE’s mission is to train managers who seek to gain dual competence, combining expertise in management with the skills learned from their prior education and/or professional experience. As part of the public service, IAE plays a key role in social mobility by offering university-level training with selection based on potential and the quality of students’ professional projects. Committed to individual development, IAE promotes access to managerial responsibilities through pathways such as dual competence, work-study programs, and continuing education. Our institute contributes to the development of knowledge in management through research.

It almost seems unnecessary to introduce Professor Reix, so significant was his influence on the teaching of management in France until his last day, as he had accepted the presidency of the scientific committee for this congress. Robert Reix was one of the “hussars” of the Republic (a term he cherished). Having passed through the Ecole Normale d’Instituteurs and the Ecole Normale d’Enseignement Technique de Cachan, he graduated in 1965 as the top student of the “new” agrégation in “Technical Education” (TEG), as it was referred to at the time. Appointed to Saint-Etienne, he quickly joined the “new” IUT of Montpellier, where he would later head the computer science department. After completing a DES in Economic Sciences, he defended a thesis and a complementary thesis in the “new” discipline of “Management Sciences” and passed the “new” agrégation exam in 1976, which he passed brilliantly. He soon became the head of IAE Montpellier, a role he would hold for about ten years, during which time he developed the school in the field of information systems and control, while preparing his successors to take over the leadership of the Institute. Under his leadership, IAE Montpellier grew rapidly, and the research team – CREGO – gained international recognition. His scientific work is immense, both for the influence and abundance of his own contributions, some of which are considered essential by his peers, and for the dissemination of his students’ work, whom he trained within the team he led. This influence was realized by the establishment of a new discipline in France – information systems management, for which he secured legitimacy by founding an association – AIM – and a journal (Système d’Information et Management). His fame was further solidified by holding multiple positions that attested to his stature as a leading academic, including the presidency of the agrégation jury. As a “hussar of the Republic,” that is, committed to integrity and rigor, Robert Reix will remain an example and a model for future generations of teaching researchers in Management Sciences. |

The excellence of the Master in International Business Engineering (IAI) is confirmed by the EFMD accreditation, which was renewed for 3 years in 2021. Through this decision made by the EFMD agency, IAE Montpellier reaffirms its commitment to maintaining academic excellence and innovation in its teaching.
The EFMD accreditation is a quality label managed and awarded by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development), the largest European strategic audit and accreditation agency based in Brussels.
The “EFMD accredited” label is a rigorous accreditation system for business and/or management programs and guarantees the best international-oriented training programs. The EFMD accreditation process is based on a set of quality criteria that are continuously evaluated by an international committee. The accreditation covers all aspects of the program’s offering: from its institutional, national, and international environment, to its structure, delivery, outcomes, and career prospects, as well as its quality assurance processes. The label is awarded to programs that ensure high academic quality, close ties with the business world, strong research potential, and a broad international outlook.
To date, 145 programs from 113 institutions worldwide hold this label, with only 24 in France. Obtaining this label allows the Master in International Business Engineering (IAI) program to be recognized among the best programs worldwide.
